Rescape makes the headlines with VR for maternity

Is Virtual Reality Maternity the new Hypnobirthing?

With a partner already on board trialling the use of VR for women in labour, there’s no wonder that the media were interested in a new drug-free therapy option that could soon be rolled out in maternity wards across the country.

VR for maternity is pioneering the use of distraction technology to help support women in labour- helping them to relax, stay calm and ‘escape’ the confides of their ward via a headset.

With reviews from expectant mums already showing the benefits of the product, the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff is planning on trialling the technology and if successful, could result in the headsets being rolled out in maternity wards across Wales.

Securing UK national coverage, there’s certainly a buzz around how the product can support women in labour and act as an alternative option to drugs to manage anxiety and pain, much like the already-popular hypnobirthing techniques.
